“USF Juniors Vice-Champion levels up for 2023”
After battling for the championship in his rookie year of open-wheel racing, Sam Corry is inking another deal with the ever-growing VRD Racing program. Rounding out a stellar season in USF Juniors with three wins, eleven podiums, and second overall in the series championship, Corry will make the move to the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship as he looks to begin his climb up the North American motorsports ladder.
“Sam is another young driver who has gone through our driver development efforts and has really come into his own,” explained VRD Racing’s Dan Mitchell. “He took part in our development test program before moving to the YACademy Winter Series and then to USF Juniors. Improving and showing success along the way, Sam is ready for the move to USF2000, and we look forward to continuing our winning ways with him on the Road to Indy.”
Set to make his Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship testing debut at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Corry will join a host of drivers during the annual Fall Combine over the October 21-23 weekend. Dubbed as the unofficial start to the winter test season, Corry and VRD Racing will look to make their presence known as they begin their quest for success in the upcoming 2023 USF2000 race season.
“The goal for this year was to learn as much as possible, but that quickly shifted to win as much as possible once the season began,” explained Corry. “Now, heading into 2023, my confidence is higher than ever, and I am laser-focused on testing and training for the upcoming season. I am excited to continue learning from Dan Mitchell and working with the VRD team. We have an intense winter test program planned, and I can’t wait to get back in the seat to build on the success from 2022.”
Stay tuned for more news and driver announcements from VRD Racing in the very near future.
