Kirkwood, Robb, Lindh top Indy Pro 2000 Podium at Laguna Seca

Somtimes races are won, sometimes they are lost and sometimes both occur.

Race One for Indy Pro 2000 at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca was exactly that.

Kyle Kirkwood applied pressure on leader Sting Ray Robb and on lap 22 it paid off.

I don?t know what happened. I nearly spun in a spot I shouldn?t have spun. It was just one of those things that happens so fast. I tossed the race away and then frustration kicks in. But this is my first time here, so to come out of practice fourth and take pole in one race and qualify third in the second, I was really happy. It was good to get a jump on the weekend. Hopefully we can get it tomorrow.

Sting Ray Robb

Robb turned the fastest lap of the race on lap 8, but in the 2nd half of the race it was Kirkwood that turned up the heat and started to apply the pressure to Robb. Once Kirkwood of Rp Motorsports took the lead he did not look back, winning by 2.0447 seconds.

The 1st place finish for Kirkwood combined with the 3rd place for Rasmus Lindh of Juncos Racing means that Kirkwood just has to start race two of the weekend to claim the season championship. Lindh will be on the pole for race two and will look to finish the season on a high note with a victory but he will have to hold off Sting Ray Robb as he will be looking for redemption.

Parker Thompson was 4th and Arem Petrov rounded out the top 5 in the caution-free race.
