Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Finishes Solid at Laguna Seca

It was a pretty solid day for the Number 5 Arrow Car. Obviously, starting in the top 5, it would have been nice to finish a little higher up. Some guys played some good tire strategy at the start, and with the temperature staying as cool as it did in the Race, the degradation of the reds wasn?t what we thought it would be. We may have been a bit out smarted on the tires a little bit at the beginning, but ultimately the Number 5 car was really good. I think on blacks at the end there, we had the quickest car, we were certainly up there. It?s unfortunate we didn?t get a little better track position at the end, but all in all, a solid finish for the team, in the top 10, and not a bad bad way to end the season.

The race was going very well, we executed a good strategy and we were making up a lot of positions. We were up to sixth and running comfortably on the same strategy as everyone else. Unfortunately for me on the last stop, there was traffic in the pit lane and I had to stand and wait for a few seconds. In a tight field like IndyCar, this can happen and a hiccup like that isn?t within our control. It?s disappointing, I think top six would have been a really nice end to the season, but we finished eleventh instead. We had such a good race, the driving was good and the car was working well. It?s a bit like the season as a whole, we’ve had a lot of positives, but the end result isn?t what we wanted.

It?s a bit obvious to say that this weekend is not how we wanted to end our year. We?ve been on such a good momentum swing and there?s really only two places where we have lacked pace. I?m just sad that we tested so well here and we weren?t able to replicate that during the race weekend. Overall we?ve learned a lot as a team this year and we?ve come a long way as a team and I?m excited for what?s to come.
